I’ll start by saying I’m not sure how I missed Erected by Desiree Holt before, but I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. I liked the dynamic between the three brothers, Josh, Tyler, and Alex. The way they look out for each other is believable.
I enjoyed that Vanessa isn’t waiting for her Knight in Shining Armor though she secretly wishes one appears soon and sweeps her off her feet. She has trust issues and so does Josh, but they each have valid reasons for not wanting to give too much too soon. They’ve been burned before, and if whatever is going on between them doesn’t pan out, the less romantically invested they are, the better it will be–or so they think.
Needless to say, they find a way to work out the challenges they face and accept that in order to move forward they have to learn to trust each other.
There were a few things I found repetitive and not necessary, such as every time Vanessa reminds herself she’s a VP of Marketing at a top firm and needs to act the part with Josh. As a reader, I knew this from the get-go, so I didn’t feel I needed to be reminded throughout the story. The same goes for Josh and his bit of history with Jiliane.
Overall, this was a fun, short read and like I said, I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
