Disturbing His Peace by Tessa Bailey is a sizzling contemporary romance that will keep Tessa’s fans turning the page.
What I found refreshing about this story is that the hero isn’t a millionaire and the heroine is pretty much his equal. Greer and Danika are everyday people who are trying to make the best of what they have. Their attraction is undeniable from page 1. It isn’t an insta-love situation as Greer is a Lieutenant who trains police recruits, whom of which happen to include both Danika and his younger brother, Charlie.
I enjoyed seeing how Greer and Danika try their damnest to fight their attraction, but the push and pull of their interactions is too strong a force that makes it incredibly hard for them to walk away from each other.
Danika’s relationship with her family was a little over the top to the point it was hard to believe at times, in my humble opinion. I know sometimes we as daughters try to go above and beyond to help our parents and maybe even other relatives, but I thought Danika just did too damned much for them and I honestly didn’t see how she found the time to do all that she did given her training at the Police Academy kept her busy all day. Every now and then I thought, “Goodness, don’t those people have legs to go out and get their own darn groceries and prescriptions?” If anything, this was the one thing that annoyed me. Danika’s needy relatives.
However, I liked it a lot when Greer realizes how much she does for her family and sort of points her out to her too. Then, when it comes to Greer. At first, I had mixed feelings toward him. He’s not just rough around the edges. He’s rough all around and then some. As the story evolved, I understood why he is so guarded and doesn’t let anyone closer than they have to be; and I enjoyed seeing how his walls crumbled when he finally lets Danika, his brother and their friends in and he realizes life doesn’t have to suck and how happy he can be if he tries.
The sexy times between him and Danika are hot, hot, hot. I couldn’t (still can’t) stop picturing his huge thighs and his not so tight ass as Danika put it.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read that I think fans of Tessa Bailey will enjoy.
