Review: A Beginner’s Guide to Rakes by Suzanne Enoch

This was another enjoyable read by Suzanne Enoch.

Diane is back in London after being away for a few years. She’s come back in grand and everything thinks she’s a most wealth widow. Diane has a plan and is ready to execute it but the last thing she expects is to learn that her business partner had an accident a day or two before she arrived and is now six feet under. Given that she’s not the wealthy widow everyone thinks she is, she decides to blackmail the one man she thought she’d never see again. But she’s a determined woman and nothing will stop her.

Oliver hears the buzz and cannot believe the woman he’s tried hard to forget for the last two years, is now in town and knocking on his door. When he sets eyes on her again is as if the last two years have never passed, and he starts feeling for her the same way he did two years ago when they had their brief dalliance.

Diane makes it known that all she wants from him is his money and knowledge on card games, nothing else. Contrary to what she wants, Oliver wants just the opposite. He wants her, but winning her and getting her in his bed will not be as easy as it once was.

It is a power of wills between Diane and Oliver. He wants to give his opinion on matters about the exclusive gentlemen’s club she’s about to open, Diane wants to hear none of it. For them to give into what they both know they both want takes almost a miracle.

I really enjoyed reading this book, the one thing I still didn’t get much was the title chosen for this installment, other than that it was a very enjoyable read.
