I started reading Jess Michaels’ work when she still wrote as Jenna Petersen. Her regency romances never disappoint.
Gosh…Lucien and Elise’s story had me from the first page. It was so emotionally charged I could feel Lucien’s pain and the sting of betrayal he carried for years. He never got over Elise. Though he was hurt and wanted revenge he couldn’t bring himself to do so because he never stopped loving her.
I thought Elise reason’s for breaking her engagement to Lucien were a bit overboard, but they were acceptable and believable due to the time period in which the story is set. The sexy times were super hot, but my favorite part was when Lucien lets his anger and frustration all out and they agree to open up and build their trust on each other again. That was a swoon-worthy moment
